Usability testing showcase – new dates

We are running extra sessions of our showcase of the Usability Testing Service so even more colleagues to learn about the value of direct user engagement by taking part in a real session.

Upcoming dates look at the current student experience of IT help self service (14 June) and the prospective student experience using the Degree Finder (30 June).

Making my life easier with content strategy

Last week I was lucky enough to spend a day in London learning about content strategy and design with Sarah Richards of the Content Design Centre. In this post I’ll be talking about some of the key principles of both practices and hope to convince you of the value of taking a fresh look at your online content to see if it’s serving the needs of your users as well as it might be.

Usability testing EdWeb CMS with an audience

Yesterday I ran a series of usability testing sessions that were observed by nearly 30 colleagues, most of whom are customers of our service. Some teams would want to do this in private, but not us! We’re happy to have our customers help us identify where we can improve.

Enhancing the Google Analytics experience: the Page Analytics chrome extension

Google Chrome’s Page Analytics extension lets users view different data from Google Analytics directly on their webpages. If you’ve never been trained in Google Analytics before and don’t have the time to commit to training just yet, the extension can act as a good alternative to viewing analytics on your site.

Website Support Clinic update – Changing URLs

At a recent Website Support Clinic, I worked with a web editor who was changing the URL of her homepage. While amending the text is easy enough, it’s important to consider all that’s involved when changing a site’s URL, including how to update the URL for child pages and requesting redirects.
